Robert M. Geraci, Sr. went to his final rest on Tuesday February 13th 2018. He was an avid Carnival Enthusiast. God decided that Mardi Gras Day would be his final day on earth. Robert is survived by his adoring wife Carol Plaia Geraci who was the love of his life. He is also survived by his children Robert Geraci, Jr.; Angela Tucci; Richard M. Christoffer, Jr and his wife Leah Christoffer; Michelle Smith; and proceeded in death by Jeremy Ryan Christoffer.
Robert was grandfather to Cameron Tucci, Hailey Tucci, and Gabriel Comstock; and is also survived by several nieces and nephews. He was the son of Dorothy Stack and Nicholas Geraci and brother to Alan Geraci (deceased), Lydia Kamierczak and her husband Dennis, and Susan Swiber.
Bob was loved by so many and touched many lives. He was involved in various organizations. He was the president of the Green Coffee Association of New Orleans for 34 years. He was the First Vice President and President for the Krewe of Pygmalion. He was a Board Member for the Mayors Mardi Gras Advisory Committee. Bob was the past president of the Traffic and Transportation Club of Greater New Orleans. He was the president of Sparta and served proudly as King LVI of the Knights of Sparta in 2008. He was a Board Member of M-G 2010. He was a Senior Float Lieutenant for 25 years for the Crew of Endymion. During the Mardi Gras Season he was a Committeeman for the Krewe of Thoth, Krewe of Iris, Krewe of Cleopatra, Krewe of Carrollton, Krewe of Mid-City, and the Knights of Babylon. He also participated in the St. Joseph Altar annually at his residence which was a tradition brought over from Sicily by his wife’s family for the past 125 years in the United States.
Bob was a second generation Italian American and was born and raised in New Orleans, LA. He was a 20 year resident of Mandeville, LA. He graduated from John McDonogh High School and attended UNO and Delgado. Family and friends are invited to attend the Funeral Service at 12:15 pm, on Monday, February 19, 2018, in the J. Garic Schoen Chapel of JACOB SCHOEN & SON, 3827 Canal Street, New Orleans. Visitation will begin at 9:00 am and continue until service time. Interment will follow in St. Patrick Cemetery #1.
