Departed this world on Wednesday, May 17, 2017.  Melissa was a native of New Orleans, Louisiana, a mother, wife, sister and daughter.  She was a homemaker and lived her life with grace and dignity.  She was loving, kind and cared for others above all else.  She was predeceased in death by her father, Charles Joseph McGoey, Jr., paternal grandparents, Mildred Coggins McGoey and Charles Joseph McGoey, Sr., and maternal grandparents, Madelene Guidry Morris and John Joseph Morris, Jr. , and brother-in-law, Daniel Karpelman.

Survived by her loving husband, Ross Philip Karpelman, daughter, Jessica Clark Meyers (Royce), grandson, Talon Anthony Meyers, mother, Carolyn Morris Godfrey,  brothers, Michael John McGoey, Charles Joseph McGoey, III (Marisol) and John Michael McGoey (Tanya) ,sister-in-law, Cookie Karpelman McIntyre (Doug). Also survived by many loving nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and cousins.

Friends may visit on Tuesday, May 23, 2017 from 6:30 PM to 8:30 PM at Jacob Schoen & Son Funeral Home, 3827 Canal Street. Followed by a service in the J. Garic Schoen Chapel from 8:30 PM to 9:45 PM. Followed by a second line to Brown Butter at 9:45 PM. Graveside Service on Wednesday, May 24, 2017 at 1:00 PM, at St. Patrick #1 Cemetery, 5000 Canal Street, New Orleans, Louisiana 70119.
