Corey Andrew Dominique

December 2, 1987 ~ December 6, 2017 (age 30) 30 Years Old
It is with great sadness that the family of Corey Andrew Dominique announce his untimely passing on December 6, 2017 at the age of 30 years. Corey, known to many as “Chewy”, was a loving son, brother, nephew, and uncle. He was to everybody exactly what they needed, which often meant something different to each person. He was unwaveringly kind and always put others’ needs before his own. As a caring friend to all, Corey always saw the good in everyone and everything. Corey loved people; he loved to listen and loved to smile. Corey is a native of Chalmette, Louisiana. He attended Chalmette High School until 2005 when he transferred to Jennings High School, where he ultimately graduated in 2006. Following graduation, Corey attended the University of Lafayette. At the age of nineteen, Corey joined the United States Coast Guard where he patriotically served for eight years. During his eight years of service, Corey received multiple awards and served at several ports, stations, and bases. Corey completed his service as an OS2E5 Petty Officer upon honorable discharge. Corey will be missed by so many, including many aunts, uncles, cousins, siblings and friends. He is survived by his mother and stepfather, Ann DeBarbieris Dominique and Joseph O. Sciortino, his father Nathan Howard Dominique, Jr., his sister and brother-in-law, Brittany Dominique Lara and Jose Erasmo Lara, and his nephew and godchild, Kai Dianni Lara. Corey is preceded in death by his maternal grandmother and grandfather, Roy and Joyce DeBarbieris, and his paternal grandmother, Emelda Dorris Dominique.
A celebration of Corey’s life will be held at 12:15pm on Friday, December 15, 2017 in the J. Garic Schoen Chapel of JACOB SCHOEN & SON, 3827 Canal Street, New Orleans, LA. Visitation will be from 10:00 am until the time of the Mass. Interment will be in St. Louis #3 Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to the Louisiana Department of Veterans Affairs, www.vetaffairs.la.gov.
