Yvonne (Dauenhauer) Lafon, age 95, passed away peacefully on November 27, 2018. She was a lifelong resident of New Orleans and embraced its culture fully. She had a passion for music, dancing, arts, food, family and friends. Born in November of 1923, she witnessed a multitude of social and historical events. Along with her late husband, Roy H. Lafon, they enjoyed spending time at their camp on Lake Ponchatrain. She was preceded in death by her mother, Louisee Caldero Dauenhauer and father George Dauenhauer. She was one of six children, all preceding her passing as well. Her siblings were Elden Dauenhauer, Charles Dauenhauer, Leanor Molaison, Laverne Memory and Melanie Dauenhauer . She was the mother of two children, Sharon (Lafon) Saia, wife of the late David Thibaut and current wife of Roy (Keith) Saia. Also, mother to the late Dr. Rodney Lafon, married to Joyce Lafon. She leaves behind one grandchild, Rhonda Thibaut LeBeau, wife of Vinny LeBeau and step grandchildren Neil and Reid Saia. Great grandchildren Tyler, Hudson, Hannah, Zachary, Gabriella and Molly.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Funeral Mass at 12:15 pm on Friday, November 30, 2018 in the J. Garic Schoen Chapel of JACOB SCHOEN & SON, 3827 Canal Street, New Orleans, LA. Visitation will be from 10:30 am until the time of the Mass. Interment will be in St. Louis #3 Cemetery.
