William Neill Iverson

William N. Iverson, CPA
September 6, 1960 – October 11, 2018
William “Billy” Iverson, 58 years young, passed away October 11, 2018 with sudden heart failure. Billy was a native of New Orleans and lived in Mandeville for the past 24 years. Preceded in death by his father Byron Q. Iverson and his mother Gertrude F. Iverson. He is very much loved and survived by younger sisters Margaret Nicolosi (Chris) and Sally Maza (Jerry), older sisters Susan Downey (Terry), Fran Gonzalez (Larry), Betsy Meyer (Dan), Patricia Przybyl, his brother Byron (Michelle), 10 nieces and 8 nephews.
Billy worked very hard to earn his CPA certification and license 30 years ago, continuing his mother’s accounting firm and retaining many of their clients for over 50 years in addition to performing pro bono work in the community.
Billy appreciated beauty in all its forms from the simple miracle of a child’s face to a well-made gumbo right through to the intricacies of an Eddie Van Halen guitar riff. He earned a black belt in karate as a young man and began reteaching himself the guitar in recent years. Billy enjoyed a brief stint as a Casa volunteer, advocating for abused children in the St. Tammany area. He was also a devoted 49er’s and Saints fan. In these and many other pursuits, Billy enjoyed the friendship and support of a strong community fellowship he developed over the years, particularly with his friend Creig Brown.
Billy was loved by many and his affectionate teasing will be sorely missed by his sisters, nieces and nephews. Wet willies, noogies, towel snaps, karate twists and rubber band shots were his love language. Billy’s laugh and his habit of ending every text thread with “I love you” left no one in doubt of their importance in his life. He has finally been granted Serenity.
Friends and family are invited to celebrate Billy’s life Friday, October 26, 2018 from 9am – 11am, followed by a Catholic Mass at 11am at JACOB SCHOEN & SON, 3827 Canal Street, New Orleans.
