William “Bill” Hubert Ibarra passed away into eternal rest on Tuesday, March 6, 2018 at the age of 70. He was a graduate of UNO and resided in New Orleans. Bill was born in Santiago, Cuba and came to the United States in 1962, via the “Peter Pan” Freedom Flights. He came to avoid Castro’s Communist Regime. Bill served in the United States Army and absolutely adored New Orleans. He embodied the spirit of what it means to be a New Orleanian, from his love for Jazz and French Quarter Festivals, to his volunteer work at City Park Botanical Garden and WYES. He will be sadly missed by all who knew him. Bill is preceded in death by his parents Miguel A. and Maria Santos Ibarra and his beloved Aunt Julia Santos. He is survived by his brother Miguel and sister-in-law Marilu Ibarra and nieces Christina and Rose Marie and his younger brother Javier and sister-in-law Maria Ibarra and his niece Lisa and nephew Michael. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to City Park Botanical Garden and WYES in his name. Family and friends are invited to attend the Memorial Mass at 11:00 am on Thursday, March 15, 2018 in the J. Garic Chapel of JACOB SCHOEN & SON. Visitation will begin at 9:00 am and continue until Mass time. Condolences may be expressed at www.schoenfh.com
