Tribute

On Friday September 20th, 2019, Vincent “Vinnie” Liberto, Jr, loving husband and father to seven children, was killed in the Line of Duty serving his community and doing what he loved. Vince was born March 27th, 1961 and raised in New Orleans, Louisiana, where he graduated Brother Martin High School and was a lifelong Saints fan. He has spent the last 30 years raising his family in Mandeville, LA with his doting wife. Vince was a decorated U.S. Marine combat veteran serving in Operation Desert Storm. He is a 25 year veteran of the Mandeville Police Department, though he served for almost 30 years in law enforcement with different agencies. He was a leader not only with his family, but his community as well. During his time serving in the United States Marines Corps and as a Police Officer, Vince achieved many accomplishments, most recently being a graduate of the FBI National Academy and becoming a certified polygraph examiner; ultimately rising to the rank of Captain within the Mandeville Police Department. He was a kind gentle giant who consistently committed himself to be a leader, coach, and mentor to everyone he met; a strong staple within his community, and a man who was so dearly passionate, loyal, and dedicated to his family, his friends, his profession, and all whom he touched.
He is survived by his loving wife Tracey Bayard Liberto, and their seven children, Vincent “Vinnie” Liberto III (Julie); Chad “Joey” Liberto (Karleigh), Michael Liberto, Bailee Dean (Michael “Buckethead”), Tyler McIntyre, Dominic Liberto, and Victoria “Tori” Liberto.
He is also survived by his father, Dr. Vincent Liberto, Sr. (Betsy); brothers and sisters Lucinda Liberto, Colonel Ignatius Liberto (Rhonda), Salvador Liberto (Amy), and Camella Grau (Benjamin); grandsons, Aden & Hugh B. Dean and William Liberto; and numerous loving aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews.
Vince is survived by his wife’s parents Peggy Kirkland King (Wayne), and Ronald A. Bayard & the late Sheron Cook Bayard; her siblings Celeste Foto (Jude); Lance Senner (Kristie); Shelly Senner Scott; and Ryan Bayard (Stephanie).
He is proceeded in death by his mother, Coralie Chachere Liberto; his adoptive mother, Catherine Vicari Liberto; his grandparents, Ignatius “Nat” & Mary Liberto and Tilghman & Gertrude Coralie Chachere; his sister Mary Beth Liberto; and his brother, Corporal David Liberto.
All family and friends are invited to celebrate Vince’s life on Friday, September 27, 2019 at the Castine Center. Visitation will be held, from 9:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m and the Memorial Ceremony will start at noon. The address for the Castine Center is 63350 Pelican Drive, Mandeville, LA 70448.
