Videlia P. Gonzalez

Videlia Picado Gonzalez was a native of Costa Rica and moved to New Orleans in 1965. She was a beautiful 96 -year-old woman and lived in Metairie for the last 41years. Mrs. Gonzalez was loved by all who had the true blessing of knowing her. She was preceded in death by her loving husband Carlos Marvel Gonzalez, her parents Maximino Picado and Eva Zuniga Picado. She is survived by her three children, Yendry Gonzalez Edwards (Jay Edwards, deceased), Carlos Arturo Gonzalez (Rebecca), and Patricia Astrid Gonzalez. She is the grandmother of Gabor Devenyi, Rachel Devenyi, Indra Fajardo, Jessica Aragon, Paul Aragon, Christian Gonzalez and Michi Gonzalez. She was the sister of Nehy Olson, (deceased), Thelma Tolbert, (deceased), Hilda Coto, Mari Picado. Brothers, Carlos Picado (deceased), Rafael Picado (deceased), Maximino Picado (deceased) and Enrique Picado. On Sunday November 25th, 2018, Mrs. Gonzalez left us to be part of the energy in the universe after a long-term illness. Although she worked primarily in the home, she also worked for Cute Toggs in New Orleans. Mrs. Gonzalez had a vibrant, magnetic personality and a free spirited soul. A kind soft-spoken lady. Her interests included family and friends gatherings, good conversation, laughing, dancing, music, sewing, crocheting, loved traveling and reading, an animal lover. Her charm, sophistication and smile enlightened any given moment. She gave us all such courage, hope and reminded us of the preciousness of life. Mrs. Gonzalez loved spending time with all her grandchildren whether it was teaching them useful knowledge, cooking them their favorite dish or watching the Univision “novelas”. She was a loving caring soul, devoted wife, wonderful mother and friend, always thinking of others, “to know her was to love her”.  She will be immensely missed forever by her children, grandchildren, family and her many friends. 
Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the Funeral Mass on Saturday, December 1, 2018 in the J. Garic Schoen Chapel of JACOB SCHOEN & SON, 3827 Canal Street at 12:15 pm. Visitation will be from 10:00 am until the time of the Mass. Interment in Lake Lawn Park.
