Vickie Jo Whittington Lechler, 77, died peacefully Tuesday, January 10, 2023 at St. Anthony’s Nursing Home in Metairie, LA. She was born in Bossier City, LA on November 26, 1945 to Paul Barney Whittington of Franklin County, MS and Virginia Smith Whittington of Homer, LA. Coming from a military family that later managed movie theaters and drive-ins across the Gulf South, she grew up in many places but lived in the New Orleans area for most of her life. She had a great love of art and a passion for painting. For several years she was a member of the Metairie Art Association and also served as an organizer of the Pirate’s Alley Art Show. She is preceded in death by her husband of 37 years, Curt Otto Lechler, Jr. of New Orleans, LA. After the death of her husband, she moved to Meadville, MS where she lived for the next 20 years. She loved her friends, her family, her dogs and working in her garden. She is survived by her son, Christopher Lechler, her daughter-in-law, Stacey Lechler, and her beloved grandchildren, Lillian Lechler and Frank Lechler. Visitation will be Saturday, January 21st from 12pm to 2pm at Jacob Schoen & Son Funeral Home, 3827 Canal St., New Orleans, LA 70119, and a memorial service will be celebrated at 2pm in the Gerard L.
