Tribute

Stephen D. Edgett, 75, of Monticello, MS., formally of St. Bernard Parish/New Orleans, LA., passed away Friday, September 30, 2022 peacefully at his residence in Monticello, MS.  “Steve” was born June 28, 1947 in Atlanta, Georgia to Mrs. Marian Dahl Edgett and Mr. William Joseph Charles Edgett. 

After graduating Chalmette High School, Steve enlisted in the United States Marine Corps and served his country as a combat engineer in the Vietnam War.  He earned several medals during his service, the Purple Heart, the Marine Corps Expeditionary Medal, and the Presidential Unit Citation to name a few.  He then went on as a successful entrepreneur in many business ventures throughout his life.  He was an avid outdoorsman. He enjoyed spending time at his fishing and hunting camps with his family and friends. 

Stephen is survived by his daughter,  Lauren Leigh Edgett, Stephen Jeffrey Edgett (son), 2 grandchildren, Jacob Gerard LaGraize and Braden Stephen Edgett, and his sister Barbara Edgett Boyce. 

Preceding him in death are his parents, Marian Dahl Edgett and William Joseph Charles Edgett, his brother William Conrad Edgett, and his beloved wife of 54 years Marilyn Schwab Edgett. 

Services will be held Thursday, October 6, 2022 at Jacob Schoen & Son Funeral Home, 3827 Canal St., New Orleans, LA 70119. Visitation will be 9:30 am to 11:00 am with a funeral service at 11:00 am. A Celebration of Stephen’s life will immediately follow the service from 1:00 pm to 3:00 pm.
