Ruth Comeaux

Ruth Douglas Comeaux, 94, of New Orleans, LA passed away on Friday, March 3, 2023.  She was born to Lillian and Hugh Douglas in Franklinton, LA.

She is preceded in death by her husband of 47 years, Floyd A. Comeaux; daughter Diane M. Comeaux; and brothers Donald, George and Sidney Douglas. She is survived by her children Douglas A. Comeaux (Lois) and Daphne Comeaux Fingerman (Stephen); grandchildren, Katherine Fingerman Blagburn (Mathew), Michael D. Comeaux and Jonathan S. Fingerman; and brother J. Kenith Douglas. 

Ruth was the office administrator for Carrollton Plumbing & Heating for over 30 years and a parishioner of Mater Dolorosa Catholic Church.  She was an avid reader, wonderful seamstress and quilter, donating quilts to the annual Washington Parish Fair.

Ruth thoroughly enjoyed her retirement years traveling, and volunteering with the Friends of the New Orleans Public Library, the Audubon Zoo, and The National WWII Museum where she was awarded Volunteer of the Year.  She enjoyed playing water volleyball and cards weekly with friends.

Visitation will be held at Mater Dolorosa Catholic Church, 1230 S. Carrollton Avenue, New Orleans, on Friday, March 10, 2023, starting at 9:30 a.m., followed by a Funeral Mass at 11:00 a.m.  Interment will be private.
