Robert A Meyn, Sr.

Robert Allen Meyn, Sr. returned to his heavenly home on August 12th, 2018 after a brief illness. A veteran of the United States Navy, Bob was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 51 years, Mary Dufresne Meyn.  He is survived by his son Robert Meyn, Jr. (Erin Hardin) and grandchildren Walker, Murphy, Hudson, Lola and Charlotte Meyn.  Bob also leaves behind siblings Warren Meyn Jr (Linda), Karen Winters (Rhem), Eugene Meyn (Gail) and Pam Trittle.  A lifelong resident of the Hog Alley neighborhood of Old Metairie, Bob was a dedicated member of the St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church congregation where he received all his sacraments, attended school, served as the Annual Fair Chairman, faithfully ushered Mass every weekend and, in retirement, served the school and parish as its handy man, greeting students and faculty daily.  Bob was bestowed the distinguished Order of St. Louis Medal by Msgr. Henry C. Bezou to acknowledge his dedication and service to St. Francis Xavier Parish.  He was loved by all who knew him and too humble to see how many lives he touched with his gentleness, humor, and love for everyone he met.  A Funeral Mass will be held at St. Francis Xavier Church on Saturday, September 1, 2018 at 12 noon. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his remembrance to St. Francis Xavier Parish.
