Richard Burns Koen, 84, passed away peacefully September 30, at his home, after a long illness.
Richard was born on February 2, 1938, Groundhog Day in Cullomburg, Alabama. He graduated from Silas High School and attended the University of Alabama and the University of New Orleans, with studies in Engineering. He retired from Lockheed Martin after running their aggregate division on the Eastern Coast of North and South America, and Canada.
Richard is survived by his beloved wife Joy; daughters Lori Koen Slavich (Anthony), Juli Koen Byrd (Bobby), and son Richard Koen Jr. (Rebecca), grandchildren Miranda Louise Byrd (Mac), Richard Koen III, and great-grandchildren Beckham and Maverick. He is also survived by his two sisters, “Teny” Sara Beard (Jack) and “Teet” Patricia Lewis (Dean).
Family and friends are invited to join us at Jacob Schoen & Son Funeral Home, 3827 Canal St., New Orleans, on Wednesday, October 5, at 12:00 p.m. with service at 1:30 p.m. Burial will follow at Greenwood Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, donations to St. Jude Children’s Hospital are preferred.
