Rene Mejia - October 6, 1937- September 29, 2021
Rene Mejia, age 83 a native of New Orleans, passed away peacefully at home on September 29, 2021, surrounded by his loving family.
He is survived by his second wife, Gloria; sister, Rosa Christian (Wayne); devoted father of Edguardo Mejia (Patricia), Laura Mejia (Dennis), Jeanette Muasher (Ibrahim), Gloria Mejia Peck (Chris). His grandchildren, Darell Regua, Orlando Mejia, Alejandro Guidry (Candace), Jeremy Guidry, Melissa Mejia, Ashley Guidry, Erika Hooper (Robert), , Hunter Sikaffy and Christopher Peck, Jr. Also survived by great-grandchildren Orlando Jr, o, Matthew, Preston , Gage, Malachi, Olivia, Dominique, Maylin , Alexis, Alayna, Amelia, Rachel, Taylor, Azalea, Darrell III, and a host of nieces, nephews and friends. He is also survived his faithful dog, Chyna.
Born October 6, 1937, native of Jesus de Otoro, Intibuca, Honduras. He was the son of the late Rodolfo Mejia Chinchilla and Mrs. Laura Valladares. In addition to his parents, Mr. Mejia was preceded in death by his first wife, Melida Sanchez. His brother, Rodolfo Mejia, his son, Rene Mejia, his daughter, Gloria Lizzeth and nephew, Carlos Mejia.
Rene received his degree in Accounting in Honduras He was just a young man when he arrived in the United States to achieve a better life for himself and his family. Rene worked in the service industry. He enjoyed spending time listening to music, but especially loved spending time with family. There was never a dull moment when he was around with his larger-than-life personality. He is remembered as a true friend, helping others in any way he could. Rene will be dearly missed by all who loved him. Until we meet again.
Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the visitation which will be held on Friday, October 8th, at Jacob Schoen & Son Funeral Home, 3827 Canal Street, New Orleans, from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM.
