Welcome to the memorial page for

Raoul "JuJu" Joseph Castanedo Jr

September 22, 1943 ~ August 8, 2017 (age 73) 73 Years Old
On the 8th day of August in the year of our Lord 2017 our beloved husband, father, grandfather and friend, Raoul Joseph “JuJu” Castanedo, gave back to God his creator his eternal soul. HIS LIFE AND DEATH WILL ALWAYS BE REMEMBERED AS A CELEBRATION OF THE GRACE OF GOD.
Born on September 22, 1943, JuJu was the child of Anna and Raoul Castanedo and the brother of Anthony Castanedo. JuJu was married to Cheryln Lucich Castanedo for 51 years. His love for his children David Anthony Castanedo (Lauren), Michael Joseph Castanedo, and Regina Castanedo, showed in how he was always available for them. He is the beloved and caring grandfather of Nicky Joseph “Toon” Castanedo, Tommy Blaise Weir, Christopher Giovanni “Cupcake” Castanedo, and Cartier Giovanni "Putta Man" Williams. JuJu was a New Orleans Fireman for 34 years. Giving back to the community through his work was important to him. JuJu was a member of the Catholic men’s group The Monday Night Disciples for 22 years. A group of men who are devoted to growing in holiness and ministering the love of Jesus and his Blessed Mother and the peace and consolation of the Holy Spirit to all men. His love for the men and friendships will always be remembered. Especially, his longtime brother in Christ, Kenny Martinez, and his family. JuJu was a member of St. Clement of Rome Church for the past 11 years. A church that is truly a community of believers. Volunteering as a recording secretary for St. Anthony of Padua Church and being a part of the Dominican Friars was another blessing for JuJu. The Pro-Life cause and Compassionate Burial for Indigent Babies was one of his many ministries.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, August 12, 2017 at St. Anthony of Padua Church from 10:00-11:30am with a Mass to follow at 11:30 am. Interment will be at St. Patrick #3 Cemetery on City Park Avenue. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to CBIB or the Monday Night Disciples. You may send your donation to 4520 Lakewood Dr., Metairie, LA 70002. JACOB SCHOEN & SON in charge of arrangements.
