Ramon Michael Olavarrieta

Ramon “Marty” Olavarrieta, 70, of Kenner, Louisiana, passed away on the evening of January 11, 2019. Ramon was a graduate of Warren Easton High School and shortly after served in the United States Marine Corps and was honorably discharged in 1973. His passion was to help others and he was able to continue his selfless work as a firefighter for the Jefferson Parish Fire Department, a profession he had enjoyed for over 25 years. Ramon was the beloved husband to Aimeé Gisevius Olavarrieta and father to Gabrielle Olavarrieta. He is survived by siblings Juanita Olavarrieta Heidingsfelder, Edward Olavarrieta, Bonnie Olavarrieta Kenney and Anita Olavarrieta Smith. He is preceded in death by his parents, Louis and Amelia Schehr Olavarrieta, his son Ramon “Cruz” Olavarrieta and his siblings Delores Olavarrieta Donnelly, Louis Olavarrieta Jr., Ricardo Olavarrieta and Patricia Olavarrieta Waguespack. Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Memorial Mass at 1:30 pm on Tuesday, January 22, 2019 in the J. Garic Schoen Chapel of JACOB SCHOEN & SON, 3827 Canal Street, New Orleans, LA.
