Paul Thomas Hickey

Paul Thomas Hickey, 79, passed away peacefully on Friday, August 12, 2022 with his wife and daughter by his side.  He was married for 49 years to his devoted wife, Marie Hickey.  Born in Sparta, Tennessee on July 20, 1943, he was the son of the late Jeff Hickey and Lorene Phifer Hickey.  Paul grew up in Sparta graduating from White County High School and then attending Tennessee Tech University where he earned a degree in Engineering.  After graduation, Paul proudly served as First Lieutenant in the United States Army during the Vietnam War.  After serving his country, Paul moved to New Orleans and worked as a civil engineer for most of his career.  He loved going back to his childhood farm in Sparta every chance he got until he was eventually able to move back after retirement. 

Besides his wife, Paul is survived by his daughter, Shannon Hickey Sarrat (Scott) and three grandchildren, Thomas, Claire and Andrew Sarrat, whom he loved dearly.  He is also survived by his brother, WJ Hickey (Nancy), sister-in-laws, Janet Hubbard (Craig) and Diane Sleighel and brother-in-law, Norton Guidry and many nieces and nephews. 

Paul is preceded in death by his son, Paul Thomas Hickey Jr., mother, Lorene Hickey and father, Jeff Hickey.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend the visitation at Jacob Schoen & Son Funeral Home on Wednesday, August 17th from 9:30-11:00 AM.  Words of Remembrance will follow the visitation at 11:00 AM with interment to follow in St. Louis #3 Cemetery.
