Myrtle Sievers Bischof, age 100, passed away Tuesday, April 13, 2021. Myrtle is survived by her brother Michael Frederick Sievers and his wife Katherine; her son Glenn and wife, Silissa; her daughter Cecilia Merritt, and husband, George Edward Merritt, Jr. and their six children George Edward III and wife, Jennifer, Frances Harrison and husband Sean, Christopher, Patrick and wife Sarah, Samuel and Veronica; daughter-in-law Lynda Malone Bischof Toups, husband Leon and her children, Elizabeth Daigle Bischof, Jennifer Bischof Walker and husband Paul, and George Narcisse Bischof, III and wife Stacy; grandson Jonathan Michael Bischof and wife, Jamie; great grandchildren, Reese and Rowan Walker; Emma and Addie Bischof; Ethan and Alyssa Bischof; George Edward Merritt, IV, Noah Merritt; Andrew, Lucy, William and Lizzy Harrison and Isabelle Merritt. Myrtle was preceded in death by her parents, Michael Frederick Sievers, Sr. and Myrtle Divine Sievers, brother Samuel Sievers; husband George Narcisse Bischof, Sr; her sons, George Narcisse Bischof, Jr. and Gregory Michael Bischof. Myrtle was a member of Saint Raphael Catholic Church prior to Hurricane Katrina and Saint Andrew the Apostle Catholic Church in New Orleans after the hurricane. Myrtle belonged to the Woman’s Auxiliary to the New Orleans Chapter of the Louisiana Engineering Society, The Pontchartrain Garden Club, The Saint Andrew’s Ladies’ Guild and the Saint Andrew’s Gregarious Elders. The family will receive friends Monday, April 19, 2021 at 9:30 AM at Jacob Schoen & Son, 3827 Canal Street, New Orleans, LA 70119. A Mass will be celebrated in the J. Garic Schoen Chapel at 11:00 AM followed by interment in St. Roch #1 Cemetery. Please practice social distancing and wear a mask.
