Tribute

We are saddened to announce the death of George Michael “Mike” Conner on November 13, 2022.

Mike was born on February 14,1944 in New Orleans.

He grew up in Lakeview with his brother Allan and his sister Judy. He met his wife Jeanette in New Orleans and celebrated the birth of their daughter Lorie, whom he always called “Peanut.”  He was a graduate of LSU and worked in the oil industry for many years. Mike was a native and life-long New Orleanian at heart although he lived in Morgantown, West Virginia for 13 years. During his time in West Virginia, he found love for Autumn leaves, Cooper’s Rock State Park, and Chicken Wings from Wings Ole. His granddaughters, Katie and Riley, will forever feel their Grumpy’s presence when they see Blue Jays and will miss his Belgium waffles, peanut butter and sugar sandwiches and crazy sense of humor.

He is preceded in death by his parents Louis Allen Conner and Nancy Ray Conner.

He is survived by his wife Jeanette Shiman Conner, his daughter Lorie Conner Lentz, her husband Mike Lentz, and his granddaughters Katie and Riley Lentz.  He is also survived by his brother Allan Conner and his wife Eulala, his sister Judy Conner Jaster and her husband Ken and many nieces and nephews. All will tell you his exaggerated stories made them laugh.

Family and friends are invited to celebrate his life at the Conner home on November 26, 2022, at 1:00 pm.

In 1971, he was deployed to Vietnam. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to Vietnam Veterans of America at www.vva.org.
