Michael David Rouchell

Michael Rouchell was born in New Orleans on February 15, 1966. He attended Saint James Major and Immaculate Heart of Mary elementary schools and Brother Martin High School graduating in 1984. Michael had exhibited a passionate interest in architecture at a very young age. He pursued the five-year architectural program at Tulane University and
graduated in 1989. In 2004, Tulane School of Architecture upgraded the five-year Bachelor’s Degree to a Master’s Degree. In 1994 Michael received the Louisiana State Board of Architectural Examiners License and in 2006 became a registered architect by the State of Alabama Board for Registration of Architects. He was first employed by E. Eean McNaughton Architects for about a year, before joining Williams Architects in 1991 where he remained for almost 30 years. In 2020 he began working with Alva See as a consulting
architect at New Orleans Design Group. Since 2013, Michael had served as board member and consulting architect for Felicity Redevelopment, Inc. and was a member of The
Urban Guild. In 2014 Michael founded the Louisiana Chapter of the Institute of Classical Architecture & Art and served as Vice President.
Michael was not fond of using computers and did the vast majority of his craft by hand. Though he remained his entire life in his native New
Orleans, his passion, talent and skills were revered and lauded by his fellow architects, colleagues, clients and friends from New Orleans to
New York City and beyond. Michael was preceded in death by his mother Joan Carolyn Rouchell and is survived by his father Harold Michael Rouchell, his brother Kevin Paul
Rouchell and sister Theresa Lynn Rouchell Blevins, his niece Emily Grace Boothe and nephews Cross Rouchell and Thomas James Blevins. A Funeral Mass for Michael will be celebrated at Jacob Schoen & Son Funeral Home Saturday morning, September 25, 2021. Visitation starts at 9:00 AM, Eulogies at 10:30 AM and a traditional Solemn Requiem Mass at 11:00 AM. All
are invited to the reception following at 1200 Baronne Street. Interment will be at 1:00 PM on Monday afternoon, September 27, 2021 at Saint Vincent de Paul Cemetery.
