Michael Laurence Kocher

Michael Laurence Kocher, beloved son of Robert and Linda Bodry Kocher, passed away Sunday, April 11, 2021 at Touro Hospital from complications following surgery. A native of New Orleans, Michael graduated from De La Salle High School, and attended Nicholls State University. Michael’s first job was at the Advocacy Center, starting part time. Soon he was a full time employee and appreciated co-worker. After three years, he moved on to the law firm of Courington, Kiefer, and Sommers and found a home. Colleagues valued his willingness to help with any project, his strong work ethic, and his big heart. Michael loved his job, and his special friend and mentor Jessie Chauppetta. Michael’s interests were varied, from X-Files to The Avengers, World of WarCraft to Lord of the Rings, Clint Eastwood westerns to Casablanca, and he was a fan of Jon Stewart and Stephen Colbert. In addition to his parents, Michael is survived by his sister Sarah Kocher and husband Rob Roseen of New York, aunt Ellen Kocher and uncle Paul Plaisance of New Orleans, aunt Susie Kocher and uncle Rick George of California, cousins Freeman George and Evelyn George of California, cousin Chris Bodry of Tennessee, and cousin J.D. Bodry of Arkansas. A memorial service will be held at a later date.
