Michael Hromanik

July 26, 1971 ~ March 24, 2021 (age 49)

Dr. Michael John Hromanik, 49, of Renton, PA died March 24, 2021, in New Orleans, LA with his family by his side. Michael fought a courageous battle to survive the many devastating medical complications that followed a hemorrhagic stroke suffered in 2019.

Born to the late Shirley Joan (Borish) and George Hromanik, Michael is survived by loving and devoted wife Angela of New Orleans, LA, with whom he shared three children: Ashley, George and Natalya.  Michael was a humble, selfless man, who loved his family with his whole heart. He considered his children the greatest of his life achievements. He is also survived by a maternal uncle Wallace (Arlene) Borish, cousins Wally (Lorena) Borish, Ed Borish, and Terri (John) Kukulski.

Michael attended Plum Senior High, although not to completion. Through his hallmark tenacity and determination, Michael received a general education diploma and enrolled at Community College of Allegheny County, focused on a path to greater opportunities. Michael was then accepted to University of Pittsburgh, where he graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in Philosophy (Summa Cum Laude) in 1997. He continued his education with University of Pittsburgh, receiving a Master of Physical Therapy in 1999. His work in physical therapy inspired a career in medicine. Michael went on to earn a Doctor of Medicine from Mayo Clinic College of Medicine in 2006. Orthopaedic Residency brought him to Ochsner Clinic Foundation in New Orleans, LA where he met his future wife. After several years in private practice, Dr. Hromanik returned to Pittsburgh to complete a Foot and Ankle Orthopaedic Surgery Fellowship at Allegheny General Hospital in 2016. Michael most recently enjoyed practicing in Ohio with Trinity Health System and served the communities of Steubenville, Cadiz, and Calcutta.

At Michael’s request, there will be no formal services. He will be laid to rest alongside his late parents in Plum Creek Cemetery, Plum, PA.

The Hromanik Family sends their profound gratitude to the administration, physicians and staff of Trinity Health System whose outreach and support immediately followed the family’s initial 2019 tragedy. Equally deserving of recognition are the compassionate and skilled staff members of Home Life in the Gardens and Passages Hospice, both of New Orleans, LA, where the support, experience, and professionalism provided Michael with the dignity and comfort he deserved in his final months and days.
