Maurice Joseph Thiberville, III, age 69, of New Orleans, passed away peacefully surrounded by family on Wednesday, September 20th, 2023.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, September 27th, from 10:00 am until funeral services at 12:00 pm at Jacob Schoen & Son Funeral Home. Burial will follow at St. Louis Cemetery No. 3.
Maurice was born in New Orleans to Maurice J. Thiberville, Jr. and Dolores Schick on July 30th, 1954. He graduated from Brother Martin High School in 1972 and from the University of New Orleans in 1976. He married Gretchen S. Thiberville on May 24th, 1991, in New Orleans. He worked as an accountant for S.K. Whitty Co. from 1976 to 1995, Universal Ogden Services from 1995 to 1997, and Kapelow Investments from 1997 to 2004, finally retiring from the Louisiana Attorney Disciplinary Board in 2021 after working there for 16 years.
Maurice loved Elvis and all things Disney. He was an avid Saints and LSU fan and a world traveler with his family. He was also a former member of the Knights of Columbus and a parishioner of Divine Mercy and St. Philip Neri parishes. When he wasn’t in Disney World, Maurice spent most of his free time enjoying the simple things in life, such as relaxing with a cold beer or glass of bourbon with his canine best friend, Lucky, by his side while listening to the oldies.
Maurice is preceded in death by his parents, Maurice Thiberville, Jr. and Dolores S. Christman; and his grandparents, Maurice Thiberville, Sr., Celeste Thiberville, Louis F. Schick, and Marie de Monsabert Schick.
Maurice is survived by his loving wife, Gretchen Stockfleth Thiberville; his former spouse, Dianne L. Thiberville Wolf; his daughters, Rebecca Elizabeth Thiberville and Michelle Thiberville Reighley and his son, David Thiberville; his sisters, Anne Thiberville and Shirley McClain-Thiberville; his sisters-in-law Elizabeth Stockfleth and Mary Ann Jaunet; his aunt, Marie Thiberville Knutson (who sadly passed away on September 22, 2023) and his uncle, Don Knutson, He is also survived by nephews Sean McClain and Charles Habighorst, Jr. and niece Ashley Habighorst.
