Mary Ziegler Norris, age 98, died of natural causes on December 22, 2018 at Lambeth House.
Affectionately called “Mimi” by her adoring grandchildren, she was born on December 7, 1920 to Edward Charles Ziegler and Frances Madison Ziegler. She attended Sophie B. Wright High School and Newcomb College. She was predeceased by her first husband, Helion Dickson, Jr., second husband James Biscoe Norris and oldest son, Tucker McWillie Dickson. She is survived by her daughter, Mary Madison Griswold (husband George) and Brooke S. Dickson (wife Mary) of Charlotte, North Carolina, her stepdaughter, Susalee Norris Sasser (husband William) of Mount Pleasant, South Carolina. Also surviving her are six grandchildren and eleven great grandchildren. Mrs. Norris was an avid volunteer in New Orleans serving as president of the Junior League of New Orleans. She was a member of Trinity Episcopal Church and the Colonial Dames and was the oldest living queen of The Twelfth Night Revelers. Mimi was a consummate entertainer, cook, gardener and the personification of a lady. Mimi was raised in New Orleans and moved to the Mississippi Gulf Coast in the early 1970s. She returned to New Orleans following Hurricane Katrina residing at Lambeth House until her death. Special thanks and praise to Lora and “Cory” of Lambeth House.
Mrs. Norris will be laid to eternal rest in Live Oak Cemetery, Trinity Episcopal Church, Pass Christian, Mississippi. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be sent to Trinity Episcopal Church or School, 1329 Jackson Avenue, New Orleans, LA 70130 or an organization of your choice
