Marie Thoele Dennis

As we approach the one-year anniversary, it is with great sadness that the family of Marie Louise (Thoele) Dennis announces her passing on April 2, 2020 at the age of 79.  Marie was born in New Orleans in 1941 to Henry Phillip Thoele and Marie Annette (Daigle) Thoele.  

Marie is survived by her loving husband of fifty-eight years, Flander J. Dennis, their three children: Patrick M. Dennis, M.D. (Kathleen), Mark S. Dennis (Kelly) and Barry T. Dennis; and five grandchildren: Jonathan, Ryan, Isabella, Gabrielle and Morgan.  She is also survived by her sisters Faye Sain and Phyllis Guysinger, as well as a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Marie met the love of her life at her sixteenth birthday party and they married five years later on February 17, the day following her twenty-first birthday. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, cousin and friend. To Marie, family was her world and she will be remembered for her elegance, generosity, graciousness and warmth.  She loved hosting Sunday dinners and holiday parties, especially at Mardi Gras while living in the French Quarter and later, living on the St. Charles Avenue parade route. To her grandchildren, she embodied the saying “A Grandmother is a Mother with Extra Frosting”.

We love you and you are always in our thoughts and prayers.  May God hold you in comfort until we are united in Christ once again.  

There will be a private memorial service at a later date.  In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in her memory to the Louise S. McGehee School. Arrangements entrusted to Jacob Schoen & Son. To
