Marguerite Olga Lapeyre Young

Marguerite Olga Lapeyre Young passed away on May 25, 2022.  She was 78 years young, born in New Orleans on October 12, 1943 to the late Felix Henri Lapeyre and Marie Thérѐse Villere Lapeyre. Devoted mother of Leonard Albert Young, Jr., Lisa Lapeyre Young Chambers (Richard), John Statham Young, James Randolph Young (Karen), Marguerite Villere Young (deceased) and Charles Couturier Young. She is preceded in death by her sisters Anita Louise Lapeyre, RSCJ, Marie Thérѐse Lapeyre Shaffer and her brother Felix Henri Lapeyre, Jr.  She is survived by her siblings Paul Martial Lapeyre (Judy), Odile Alma Lapeyre Lagarde (Stewart), Jeanne Marceline Lapeyre Adams (Philip), Madeleine Sophie Lapeyre Torre, Michel Villere Lapeyre (Ruth), and Francis Minor Lapeyre (Mary Anne).  Also survived by 11 grandchildren (Ian, Colin, Duncan, Nolan, Richard, Victoria, C.D., Anya, Katya, Martin and C.J.)  and many nieces and nephews. Margot graduated from the Academy of the Sacred Heart (’61) and continued her studies at the University of Dallas and Loyola University where she was a member of the Tri Phi sorority. Margot then attended the Fashion Institute of Atlanta, along with her sister Madeleine, to study design. She became an accomplished seamstress, creating masterful dresses, suits and costumes for her sisters, her children, her nieces and grandchildren. She generously shared her amazing gift with anyone who asked.  As a debutante, she was in the courts of many Carnival organizations and served as the Queen of Acheans.  She was a devout Catholic and had a beautiful voice which she shared with the choir at Holy Name of Jesus Church.  She volunteered with the Junior League of New Orleans, but her greatest source of joy was nurturing her children and grandchildren.  She was the consummate example of a loving mother and will be dearly missed. Relatives and friends are invited to attend the Funeral Mass at Jacob Schoen Funeral Home on Thursday, June 2, 2022 at 12:15.  Internment will follow at St. Louis No. 3 on Esplanade Avenue.  Visitation will be from 10:30 am until service time. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to The Jimmy Fund Clinic, Dana Farber Cancer Institute.
