Luis Carlos Olivares

Luís Carlos Olivares Querales, native of Soledad, Colombia passed away Wednesday, November 23rd, 2022, at the age of 93. Mr. Olivares had a long and illustrious career in the early aviation industry of Colombia, supervising the telecommunications department of national airline Avianca before moving to the United States. Once here, Luís went on to raise a family and share his deep love of learning and knowledge with his daughter. He often could be found reading books on history, philosophy, or politics though his deep and unwavering Catholic faith would always bring him back to the reading of the Bible and studying of the scriptures. One of his proudest moments was obtaining citizenship of his beloved adopted country in the early 80’s. Mr. Olivares lived in New Orleans, dedicating the whole of his time to his adoring grandchildren, his daughter and her partner, and his wife, Marie Olivares, cherished companion of more than 40 years. He will be missed dearly and holds a forever place in the hearts of his family. We ask for prayers for his eternal rest.
