Louis John Flattmann

Louis John Flattmann, born in New Orleans on November 11, 1941, left us for his heavenly home on April 1, 2022. He was the son of the late Louis Eusebe Flattmann and Julia Marguerite Kastner Flattmann; survived by brothers, Gerald Joseph Flattmann, Sr. and Alan Raymond Flattmann (Rebecca), and sister, Leah Mary Flattmann Molaison (Arthur), nieces, nephews, longtime friend, Fr. Alex Valladares, as well as a host of cousins and friends. Louie loved his cats, working in his beautiful yard and antique shopping. He was a kind and beloved friend to everyone who knew him and will be greatly missed by all. His family wishes to extend special thanks to his friend Brian Gabriel for his help and friendship during Louie’s long illness.

Louie graduated from John McDonogh Senior High School and LSUNO. He served his country in the Louisiana National Guard.  He was a lifelong parishioner of St. James Major Church where he served as an usher and Eucharistic Minister. He also belonged to the Alter Society, Knights of Columbus Council No. 2925 and was a member of the Companions of Pauline – Sisters of Christian Charity. Louie was a recipient of the St. Louis Medallion Metal, an honor from the Catholic Church, he was especially proud of.  

Family and friends are invited to attend the Funeral Mass on Friday, April 8, 2022 at 11:00 AM with a visitation beginning at 10:00 AM at St. James Major Church, 3736 Gentilly Boulevard, New Orleans, LA, 70122. Interment will follow in St. Roch #1 Cemetery. Donations to St. James Major Church preferred.
