Louis Carl Delcambre, Jr., age 86, born May 26, 1936 in Port Arthur, Texas, entered eternal rest on June 8, 2022. He is survived by his loving and wonderful wife of 64 years, Joycelyn Mary DeBarbieris Delcambre. He is also survived by his loving children, Karen Delcambre McCarthy (Joseph) and Sharon Delcambre Lilly and his grandchildren, Jonathan Michael Lilly, Joseph Carl McCarthy (Alexis), Jessica Sharon McCarthy, Michael Henry McCarthy (Hannah) and Lauren Karen Lilly. He is preceded in death by his parents, Louis Carl Delcambre, Sr. and Gertrude Lerille Delcambre and by his grandparents, A. Telesmar Delcambre, Ava Broussard Delcambre, Arthur Lerille and Josephine Beauvais Lerille.  Carl and his family moved from Port Arthur to New Orleans after World War II and he graduated from St. Aloysius High School in 1954. He graduated from Loyola University in New Orleans in 1958. His first position was as a manager at Western Auto in Gentilly and then he owned and operated a successful lounge in New Orleans, The Royal Cue, as well as a restaurant, The Golden Cow. He also managed The Congress Inn in New Orleans. Carl then decided to pursue his lifetime passion as a horseman and he was a successful horse trainer for almost two decades at thoroughbred racetracks across the country. Carl enjoyed gambling at the racetrack with his many friends and colleagues with whom he forged lifetime friendships. At the end of his career, he managed the money room at the Finish Line Offtrack Betting in Metairie and Mandeville. He retired to Mandeville and he later enjoyed several cross-country trips with his wife, Joycelyn.

The family would like to thank Passages Hospice and Avanti Senior Living Center for their caring assistance during the last months of Carl’s life.
