April 15, 1939 ~ April 11, 2021 (age 81) 81 Years Old

Tribute

Lane Miller Hamrick passed away at the age of 81 on Sunday, April 11, 2021. Lane is survived by her two children Sandra Lea Schmidt and Scott William Schoenick; four stepchildren George Hamrick, Jr., Kenneth Hamrick, Stefanie Braun and Jason Hamrick; six grandchildren and six stepgrandchildren. Lane was preceded in death by husbands William Arnold Schoenick and George Thomas Hamrick; her parents Harry Forest Miller and Anne Lea Lane Miller and brother David Harry Miller.

In 1958, Lane married William “Bill” Arnold Schoenick from Picayune, Mississippi and the two lived in California, Louisiana, Texas and Tennessee. Bill and Lane loved to travel and socialize with friends around the world and were always traveling with their children to visit family members. Upon Bill’s untimely death in 1978, Lane moved back to New Orleans to be with her parents and raise her children.

In 1983, while her cousin Clara was visiting from Florida, Lane and Clara went country dancing and met George Thomas Hamrick. George brought a new dynamic to this city girl – hunting, fishing, camping and everything in between where the outdoors played a part. Several of these events turned into large gatherings of friends and family, where good times were shared by all. On June 17, 1983, George and Lane were married until he passed away in 2003.

Lane loved to travel, but also loved her independence. When not escaping to the outdoors, Lane was traveling all over the world with her favorite travel partners, either her brother’s wife, Pam or her two cousins, Clara and Patty. These ladies traveled to Europe several times, all through the United States, including Hawaii and Alaska. Lane was free when traveling – absorbing new cultures or pastimes. The stories of her travels were told over and over, even up to her death.

Lane was a caregiver at heart and personally cared for her family members and loved ones until their deaths to include: her aunt Mildred; her mother Anne Lea and father Harry; and late husband George. For them, Lane was the earthly angel that led them to Heaven.
Lane the spouse, mother, friend, world travel companion and caregiver will be missed immensely. Until we meet again.
