John Gordon Wallis, Jr., born on November 3, 1942, died on May 14, 2022 surrounded by family and embraced in love.Gordon (Gordy) was predeceased by his parents, John Gordon Wallis, Sr. and Kathryn Malloy Wallis. He is survived by his twin sister, Kathryn (Kay) Wallis and siblings, Mark Wallis (Vickie), Mary Dufrene (Earl Dufrene, deceased), Patrick Wallis, Joseph Wallis (Brenda), Marian Hannah (Troy), Jane Anderson (Dick), and Anne Wallis. He is also survived by his former brother-in-law, Claude Kelly. Gordy was uncle to Jennifer, Michael, Kathryn, Annie, Joe, Renee, Elisabeth, Ritchie, John, Kate, and Rita. He was great-uncle to twelve. Gordy was a man of integrity. He loved God, children, and family. He was an interesting, and interested, conversationalist. Sitting on his front porch each afternoon, passing neighbors and strangers were met with an enthusiastic "hello". Gordy never shied away from a conversation. He was a quick wit and believed that a good laugh was worth more than a chest of gold. Gordy appreciated the beauty of the smallest garden to the largest oak tree. He was an expert on European history. He had a heartfelt love of all animals, though we are pretty sure he secretly favored dogs. He appreciated all things beautiful: classic cars, classical music and New Orleans architecture. He was a collector of bow ties, plaid shirts, and watches. He preferred rainy days to sunny ones. Gordy loved ice cream, cokes (never diet), and cookies. And, he never turned down an invitation to dinner. Our brother was kind and loving, and we are heartbroken to have lost him. Family and friends are invited to the funeral service on Friday, May 20th at St. Francis of Assisi Church, 631 State Street, New Orleans. Visitation begins at 11am with a mass to follow at noon. Interment will be private. Arrangements entrusted to Jacob Schoen and Son Funeral Home, 3827 Canal St., New Orleans, LA 70119.
