Henry John Smith, Jr., better known as “Sonny” to his friends and family, was born in New Orleans on December 3, 1947 and departed this life on Sunday, March 8, 2020. He was 72 years of age but to those that knew him, much younger at heart. He was a Staff Sergeant with the United States Army who served in Vietnam and he was the recipient of two purple hearts. His career was spent working as a lighting consultant with LEA, Inc. to which he had recently retired. He is the son of the late Henry John Smith, Sr. and Carmen Locascio. A devoted husband and father, he is survived by his wife, Jan and their children, Chad (Regina), Jason and Misty (Brody) as well as his two grandchildren, Liam and Madelyn, whom he loved to annoy. He is also survived by his sister, Karen Durel (Maurice) and her children Debbie (Irion), Michele (Dennis), Diane and Michael (Stacy). Services have been postponed till a later date.
