On May 16, 2017, heaven gained a loving wife, mother, and grandmother. Hazel Fay Gowland passed away surrounded by her loving family at Victoria Gardens in Allen, TX. In her 91 years, she touched many lives and enjoyed friendships with young and old alike. She was born on June 17, 1925 in New Orleans, LA to the late George Nungesser and late Inez Durham Nungesser. Proceeded in death by her beloved husband of 47 years Henry “Hank” E. Gowland, Jr. married June 11, 1948. Her three children, Catherine G. Guidroz, Henry E. Gowland, III and Michael E. Gowland (Deidre J. Gowland), survive Hazel Fay. Known as Granny to her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, she showered love and affection on all of them. Her five granddaughters include Michelle G. Bennett (Reed Bennett), Ginga M. Guidroz, Chanda G. Cervini (Matthew Cervini, Sr – deceased), Chelsi R. Gowland (Megan Mack) and Caila M. Gowland (Michael Mentz). Her great-grandchildren include Nicholas R. Bennett, Adam S. Bennett, Ryan C. Bennett children of Reed and Michelle and Alaura E. Cervini, Matthew M. Cervini, and Giavonnia L Cervini children of Chanda and Matthew. Relatives and friends are invited to join us as we celebrate the life of this wonderful southern lady.
Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend a Memorial Mass at the J. Garic Schoen Chapel of JACOB SCHOEN & SON FUNERAL HOME, 3827 Canal St. on Saturday, August 12, 2017 at 11:00 AM. Visitation Saturday morning from 9:30 AM until mass time. Interment will follow Greenwood Cemetery.
