Welcome to the memorial page for

Harold John Stevens

June 12, 1945 ~ May 30, 2017 (age 71) 71 Years Old
Harold John Stevens died after a brief illness on May 30, 2017. He was born in New Orleans on June 12, 1945 and resided in New Orleans, Metairie, and finally in Kenner for the last 22 years. A graduate of John McDonogh Senior High school, Harold enjoyed careers with the United States Postal Service, Prudential and Mutual of Omaha Insurance companies, and his own agency, as well as several other ventures before finally retiring earlier this year. He never met a stranger and always sought to make those around him his friend. He loved the comaraderie of his neighbors, many of whom helped during his illness, sailing on the lake with his friends, swimming in his pool with his grandson and grand nephews, and especially cruising in his 1979 Corvette which satisfied a lifelong love for American muscle cars. Preceeded in death by his father Fred Harold Stevens, he is survived by his mother Elise Stevens, three sisters Sheryl Deck (Wayne), Susan Benedict (Charlie), and Sandra Schlaudecker (David), his one son Alan (Colette), one grandson Sean (of whom Harold is most proud), and several nieces and nephews. The family would like to thank the staff, especially the nurses and aids, at both Ochsner Hospital in Kenner as well as Canon Hospice for thier tireless care and compassion during Harold's illness.
Family and friends are invited to celebrate his life with a Funeral Mass at 12:15pm on Saturday, June 3 in the J. Garic Schoen Chapel of JACOB SCHONE & SON, 3827 Canal Street in New Orleans. Visitation will begin at 9am. In lieu of flowers please consider a donation in his memory to the American Cancer Society. "Imagine a world free from cancer. Help make it a reality."
