Gloria Munster Lechner

Gloria “Maw Maw” Lechner, on Saturday, January 15, 2022 at the age of 97, humbly walked into the arms of her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Born August 17, 1924, a resident of New Orleans, graduate of E.B. White High School and a lifelong member of Christ Lutheran Church. She was preceded in death by her parents Peter Louis Munster and Mary Biggio Munster, her beloved husband of 58 years George Louis Lechner, her son George Louis Lechner, Jr., siblings Marion Munster, Rose Munster Mercier, Yvonne Munster Bond and Doris Munster Schoendorf. She is survived by her two daughters, Kathy Lechner Wendling (Wendell) and Judy Lechner Bayer (Arthur) and daughter in law Virginia McManus Lechner. Maw Maw to George Louis “Chip” Lechner, III, Jonathan Lechner (Jennifer), Melissa Ransbottom (Ronnie), Christopher Bayer (Regina), Jessica Collins (Eric Jr.), Rebecca Jostes (Kurt), Alex Wendling (Daniela), Jeffrey Wendling (Casey), Malory Weir and Cristina Antoine. Great grandmother to Jett Lechner, Colin Lechner, Nathan Lechner, Logan Lechner, Taylor Ransbottom, Deuce Ransbottom, Eric Collins, III, Hannah Collins, Addison Bayer, Caleb Collins, Cannon Collins and Dominic Jostes. Great-great grandmother to Ethan and Silas Lechner. During WWII, she worked for Consolidated Industries in Gentilly then Doerr Furniture. She stopped working to raise a family and care for her ailing mother before returning to work for Louisiana Department of Health, from where she eventually retired. The family would like to extend their thanks and appreciation for the loving care provided by Anvoi Hospice, Dania Matute, Yolanda Williams, JoAnne Diettell and all who took part in “Team Gloria” over these last years. Gloria was a special lady who always saw the good in people, loved being with her family, occasional trips to the casino, spending time with her cousin and best friend Mauva Mayer and enjoying sweet treats of all kinds. Family and friends are invited to attend a Funeral Service at 11:00 AM on Tuesday, January 25, 2022 in the J. Garic Schoen Chapel of Jacob Schoen & Son, 3827 Canal Street, New Orleans, LA 70119. Visitation will begin at 9:00 AM. Interment will be in St. Louis #3 Cemetery.
