George Harrison Scott passed away on Monday, July 11, 2022 at 5:11 p.m. of natural causes. Harrison was 98. He was born in New Orleans, Louisiana. He was the beloved son of Ruth Farhner Scott and Harry G. Scott. Harrison was the brother of the late Carol Scott, and widowed by Patricia Farrell Scott. Harrison’s son, Richard Scott, preceded him in death. Harrison is survived by his children Sharry Scott, Shannon Scott and Slade Lewis, and grandchildren Amanda Lewis-Pelican, Hannah Lewis and Seth Farrell Schwegmann.
Harrison was in the Army-Airforce where the flew bombers in WWII. He was a graduate of LSU and LSU Law School; he was former U.S. Attorney and Assistant District Attorney in Orleans before moving on to private practice. Harrison co-founded the Bank of Louisiana in 1958 where was the majority shareholder and served as Chairman of the Board for many years. Harrison and James A. Comiskey created Mr. BOL credit card leading the industry at that time. Later, Harrison served on the Superdome Board.
At the age of 89, Harrison stopped riding horses, but enjoyed camping from time to time with his daughters. He enjoyed his chickens, planting trees, growing vegetables in his garden, a glass of wine and smoking cigars.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, July 23, 2022 at Jacob Schoen & Son Funeral Home, 3827 Canal Street, New Orleans, Louisiana from 10:30am until 12:30pm.
