Frederick J Gillies

Frederick John “Rick” Gillies, 71, passed away on Saturday, January 22, 2022. Born March 29, 1950 in New Orleans, Louisiana, he was the son of Rita Faurie Gillies and Frederick Joseph Gillies. He retired from the New Orleans Sewage and Water Board after 35 years of service. In retirement, he enjoyed fishing, watching old westerns, cracking jokes, and napping with his grand-dog, Loki. He is survived by his wife, Noelle Schmitt Gillies and his children, Angela and Rickey. He is also survived by Lynda and Dane Bernis, Sharon and Wayne Lassere, Patrick and Terry Gillies, and Tracy Biggs Gillies. He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, and their children. He was predeceased by his parents, his brother Chuck, and his sister René. Service of remembrance will be held Saturday, February 5, 2022 at 12:15 PM at Jacob Schoen & Son, 3827 Canal Street, New Orleans, LA 70119. Visitation will begin at 10:00 AM. The family requests that anyone attending dress comfortably. Rick preferred to wear jeans and a polo shirt. He hated dressing up and didn’t want anyone to dress up for him.
