Emily Johnsen Morris

Emily Johnsen Morris, age 98, born December 2, 1923 in New Orleans, LA entered into eternal rest on Wednesday, May 18, 2022. Wife of the late William Grady Morris,Sr., daughter of the late Louisa Johnsen and James C. Johnsen, Sr., sister of the late James C. “Bubby” Johnsen, Jr. (Barbara). She is preceded in death by her loving sons James K. Morris, Sr. and William G. Morris, Jr. She is survived by her daughter-in-law Sharon L. Morris (James), grandsons James K. Morris, Jr. (Lara “Lolly”) and J. Ray Morris and great grand children Rachel Emily Bourgeois (Sam) and Daniel L. Morris. She is also survived by her niece Holly J. Hoerner (Tom) and their two sons.  

Emily graduated from Sophie B. Wright Girls High School in June, 1941.  She was an employee of the Archdiocese of New Orleans for 50+ years. While employed at the archdiocese, Emily received the following awards: The Order of St. Louis IX Medallion in 1978, The Order of St. Gregory the Great Medallion and The Papal Honors granted by His Holiness Pope John Paul II. In 1987, she was one of only 100 persons selected to receive communion from Pope John Paul II at his Mass in New Orleans.

The family will receive guests at Jacob Schoen & Son, 3827 Canal Street, New Orleans, LA 70119, on Monday, May 23, 2022 from 9 AM – 11 AM. A Funeral Mass will follow at 11 AM. Interment immediately following the Mass in Greenwood Cemetery.
