Edie Casey passed away unexpectedly at the age of 56 on Saturday 12.23.2017, of an unexplained illness. She was the loving wife, of 26 years, of Tom Casey III and mother of Nicholas Casey. Edie leaves behind many family members including her husband and son, her 3 brothers; Darryl (Mary) their children, John and Danny. 2 sisters; Miriam (Keith), their children and Jane (Jimmy) their children.

Edie was born on April 17, 1961 and grew up in New Orleans. She loved going back to her favorite places she frequented as a young woman. Edie loved the sand, sun, and beach. She took great pride in her professional career, particularly her years at the Royal Sonesta and IBM. Edie loved to walk her dogs, garden, rock on the porch, and watch cardinals. She loved not only to travel but to organize travel plans for her family to exotic destinations. She ensured every interesting site was on the itinerary. Edie took great pride in her neighborhood and tried her best to get all her neighbors to be as inspired about litter pick up as she was. As you pick up litter do so in her memory. Her German heritage was important to her, thus donations to the new Deutches Haus in lieu of flowers are welcome.

Edie loved to gather family and friends, always planning games to encourage participation and paying attention to every little detail. She loved to create a party and those attending enjoyed a fun time. Her combination of planning, decorating, and Tom’s love of cooking created events that were filled with memorable times.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend a service at 12:15pm on Tuesday, January 2, 2018 in the J. Garic Schoen Chapel of JACOB SCHOEN & SON, 3827 Canal Street, New Orleans, LA.
