Dorothy V. Billiot Clement, 87, widow of Roland R. Clement, went to become an angel on Saturday, June 5th. She was at home with her family. Born February 25, 1934, in Theriot, Louisiana, she was the daughter of Willie and Viola Billiot. Dorothy “Dot” attended St. Mary of the Angels School and Nicholls High School. She worked for 70 years in the garment industry as a seamstress, working for various local New Orleans Companies (Cutie Togs, Lynley Designs, and Massett and Co.). Her last job was at Massett and Co. sewing Mardi Gras costumes for local parade krewes. Her boss was Karen Massett whom she loved dearly. She is survived by her daughter, Debbie McKnight Smith, and her husband, David Smith, of Slidell, Louisiana. Her three children, Gustave E. Chagnard III, Jeffery R. Chagnard, and Joseph A. Smith. Her son Craig Willie Clement of Chalmette, Louisiana and his two children, Korey Clement and Carly Ann Clement. Dorothy has four great-grandchildren, Gustave E. “DRU” Chagnard IV, Kayleigh M. Chagnard, Kaleb Clement, and Payton Clement. Mrs. Clement has ten brothers and sisters that are deceased. A funeral service will be held at 12:15 PM in the J. Garic Schoen Chapel of Jacob Schoen & Son Funeral Home on Friday, June 11, 2021. Visitation will start at 10 AM. Interment to follow at Greenwood Cemetery. Special appreciation to Passages Hospice Northshore, a wonderful compassionate group. We could not have taken care of our mom without you all.
