Doris Louise Born Vanderbrook passed away on Sunday, February 10, 2019 at the age of 96. Dottie was born on October 5, 1922 in New Orleans, LA. She was the only child of the late Hilda Wilhelmina Flattmann and Louis John Born. Beloved wife of the late Edward (Eddie) J. Vanderbrook, Jr. Mother of Jane V. Philibert and Edward J. (Buzzy) Vanderbrook III (Darlene Steele). Grandmother (Grammy) to: Rudolph L. (Rudy) Philibert, Jr., Edward J. (Eddie) Vanderbrook III and Angele M. Guidry. Great Grandmother to: Aidan E. Philibert, Evan B. Philibert, Marshall W. Foust, Edward J. (lil Eddie) Vanderbrook V and numerous family and friends. Dottie was a native New Orleanian living in the 9th Ward, moved to St. Bernard Parish and moved again after Katrina to Metairie. She attended B.M. Palmer & John McDonogh High School. Dottie held many offices in clubs of George Washington Elementary School, Joseph Kohn Jr. High, F.T. Nichols High School, AARP Meraux Chapter 2851, and Fort Pike Volunteer Fire Department. Dottie has been a parishioner of St. Vincent de Paul, St. Cecilia, St. Marks and St. Nicholas of Myra (Lake Catherine) Catholic Church Parishes. Family and friends are invited to attend the Funeral Mass at 1:30 pm on Saturday, February 16, 2019 in the Gerard L. Schoen Jr. Chapel of JACOB SCHOEN & SON. Visitation will begin at 11:00 am and continue until Mass time. Interment will follow in St. Vincent de Paul Cemetery #2. Condolences may be expressed at www.schoenfh.com
