David died peacefully at Passages Hospice Saturday August 21 surrounded by several members of his family and Ted. David, was a native of Fort Worth, Texas and lived in New Orleans with his partner/husband Ted Jeansonne of 30 years.
He was a trained chef, and worked in many restaurants in New Orleans
He loved cooking, and travelling, especially going on cruises.
He was always “above reproach” with his dress and fashionista style.
David participated in many Mardi Gras Balls and Halloween in New Orleans. He was known for his lavish costumes. He definitely lived life to its fullest and won people’s hearts with his infectious smile. Preceded in death by his father Pastor Pedro Cabrera. Survived by his mother Josephine Cabrera, brothers Pete, (Dora), Daniel Cabrera (Chaunte) and sister Yolanda Wanat (Charles), brother-in-law Rene Jeansonne (Carla) and sister-in-law Pam Jeansonne and brother-in-law (Kevin Jeansonne, deceased) Shelley (former sister-in-law). He also had numerous nephews and nieces, great grandnephews and great grandnieces.
A visitation will be held Saturday at 1:00-3:00pm at Jacob Schoen & Son Funeral Home, 3827 Canal Street, New Orleans, LA.
Following the service a Repass celebrating David's life will be held upstairs in the Iberville Hospitality room at Jacob Schoen & Son funeral Home.
