Danny William McCarthy

Dr. Danny William McCarthy passed away at home on Monday, September 11, 2023 at the age of 73 surrounded by his wife and children, and their spouses.  Danny was the beloved husband of 50 years to Dr. Deborah Schaefer McCarthy.  Devoted father to Scott James McCarthy (wife Olivia) and Laura Louise McCarthy Campo (husband Adam).  Proud “Pops” to Lennon and Dakota Campo. Son of the late James R. McCarthy (wife Freda) and the late Edith Boesch McCarthy. Son-in-law of the late Warren and Louise Schaefer. Brother of the late James P. McCarthy (Mitzi), Terry R. McCarthy (Nancy), Eileen Martinez (Simo), and the late Richard C. McCarthy (Rhea). Brother-in-law to Laurie Hosli (Keith), Charlotte Luna (Howard). Godfather to Nancy Vedel (Anders) and Reese Jimenez.  He was also preceded in death by his grandparents, William and Frances Boesch, and Tessie McCarthy.                                                     

Dr. McCarthy was an advisor to Entergy Corporation, state government, and was CEO of MCE Research.  He was a former professor of engineering at Tulane University, where his work on microprocessor design and nonlinear control theory was published worldwide.  He was also an original member of the Board of Directors of The Holy Cross School, and flew in the Naval Reserve from 1973 - 1978.  Relatives, friends, and TKE brothers are invited to attend services on Tuesday, September 26, 2023 at Jacob Schoen & Son Funeral Home, 3827 Canal Street, New Orleans. Visitation will begin at 10:00 a.m. followed by a Funeral Mass at 12:00 p.m.in the chapel.
