Cyril (CJ) Fayard of New Orleans, LA passed away on Thursday, July 20, 2018 surrounded by his loving wife and family. Born on April 10, 1931 in Bay St. Louis, MS to Fred and Sedonia Fayard. CJ is survived by his beloved wife of 56 years, Shirley Tallant Fayard; his children David Fayard (Stacey), Terry Goen (Morris), Mark Fayard (Kathy), and Michele Beaird (Christopher); and his grandchildren, Megan, Grace, Sarah, Kyle, Dominic, Trip, Anna, Emily, Julia, Therese, Michael, and Blaise. He is also survived by his brother, Larry Fayard (Margy). CJ is preceded in death by his parents, his brothers Fred Fayard and James Fayard, and his sister Margie Fayard Reinburg. CJ was raised in Bay St. Louis, MS and graduated high school from St. Stanislaus College. After graduation, he attended The University of Mississippi (Ole Miss) where he received his Bachelor of Science in Chemical Engineering. Upon graduation, he entered the United States Air Force as a 2nd Lieutenant and served in the 4925th Test Group (Atomic) at Kirtland Air Force base in New Mexico. After his time in the service, CJ began his work career. He retired from Shell Oil Company after 34 years. A visitation will be held on Sunday evening, July 22, from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm at Jacob Schoen & Son Funeral Home at 3827 Canal St, New Orleans, LA 70119. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at Good Shepherd Parish at 1025 Napoleon Avenue, New Orleans, LA 70115 on Monday, July 23, at 11:00 am with visitation beginning at 10:00 am. A private burial will follow the service at Lafayette Cemetery #1. In lieu of flowers, donations are requested to the American Cancer Society or the New Orleans Notre Dame Seminary in honor of CJ Fayard. Condolences may be expressed at www.schoenfh.com
