I remember seeing Claire around UNO, but I had my greatest experience with her in France, on the Glories of France 2015 excursion. I had also went on the Glories of France 2014 trip, so I had some of the same experiences. One of the same experiences was my adventure in St. Guilhem le Desert. There is a small entrance to the small mountains surrounding the city of St. Guilhem. I had hiked them the year of 2014 and I wanted to again in 2015. I went alone the year before, so I wanted a companion the second time. I had seen Claire, camera in hand around other places in Montpellier and Paris. She seemed like the perfect candidate to ask, with her very adventurous spirit and wide eyes for new things. I found her in St. Guilhem and quickly asked her. She gained a big smile and agreed. We began our hike, taking a different route from my previous year. We zigzagged through the course, watching the loose rocks and were careful of the close edges. We saw some very old structures and found a rather large old building which we explored, wondering about some of the markings in it. We retook the course and made it to a great stopping course. We could see the city below, a hidden soccer field in the rear of it. We could see how the valley turned and we both wished to hike back there. I would glance over at her, to see her face. She was very peaceful and she seemed proud and thankful for taking my suggestion and offer. After seeing her peaceful look atop that mountain, I was glad I asked her, I was proud of her for taking that hike, for enduring some of the more difficult edges, and I had a high respect for her. She really showed her adventurous spirit there. I am sorry to see she has passed away. I would have loved to venture other mountains and places together.
