Christian Wade Verges, Sr.

Cpl. Christian Wade Verges, Sr. went home to be with the Lord Jesus on November 3, 2021 at the age of 53, following a valiant battle with cancer. He was born December 22, 1967 in Seattle, Washington and currently resided in Slidell, Louisiana. Chris is survived by his father Wade T. Verges, Sr. and his mother Joan Manzella Dantin. Beloved brother of Christy Verges Peachey, stepbrother of Derek Dantin (Kristin), Dirk Dantin (Tisbee) and Damon Dantin. He was preceded in death by his younger brother Wade Thomas Verges, Jr. He leaves behind his children Christian Wade Verges, Jr. (Brianna), Brandon Michael Verges, Kyle James Verges and Cristin Marie Verges. Grandson of the late Louis and Grace Verges, Sr. and John and Jennie Manzella. Uncle to Savannah, Charlotte and Timmy Peachey. Nephew to Kathy Rudick (Gary), Louis Verges, II (Camille) and Carol Verges Mc Pherson.  Special appreciation to cousins Louis Verges, III, Michael Verges, Mary Grace Verges, Clay Rudick, GW Rudick, II, Ali Rudick Stelly and Mia Sclafani for their unending love and support.

Chris graduated from Brother Martin High School in 1985 and he received his Bachelor’s Degree in accounting from Loyola University of New Orleans. Chris was currently part of the Louisiana State Fire Marshal family where he conducted building inspections and arson investigations. In 2015, he was recognized as Louisiana State Fire Marshal Emergency responder of the year. Chris spent his free time fishing and enjoying antique cars, especially his 1975 yellow corvette. He was very proud of the brotherhood that he had with his colleagues and friends from Brother Martin. He will be remembered for his selfless love for his children, his family and his friends.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Funeral Mass at 12:15 PM on Wednesday, November 10, 2021 in the J. Garic Schoen Chapel of Jacob Schoen & Son, 3827 Canal Street, New Orleans, LA 70119. Visitation will begin at 9:00 AM. Interment will follow in St. Louis #3 Cemetery.
