Tribute

Carolyn (Sue) Moore, born January 30th 1937 in Houma, LA died April 14, 2018 surrounded by her family at home in Slidell, LA. Sue graduated from Fortier High School Class of 1954 in New Orleans, serving as Freshman Vice President as well as Vice President of the National Honor Society. After graduation she worked as a secretary for the Orleans Parish School Board. She married Allan on September 6, 1958 at Mater Dolorosa Church in New Orleans. The couple moved into the former World War 2 huts on LSU’s campus, which served as married student housing. While Allan worked on his Geology degree, she worked as secretary for Dr. Paul Rees in the LSU Mathematics Department. Upon his graduation, they returned to New Orleans where she resumed work for the School Board until the birth of her first son, David in 1960. Sue held close to her relatives and friends. She enjoyed spending time in the city at events, and was an enthusiastic member of the Catholic Church, attending Mass daily. Some of Sue’s ministries in Resurrection of Our Lord and Our Lady of Lourdes parishes included: Extraordinary Minister, assistant Catechism teacher, Ladies Altar Society, Prayer Shawl, Small Church Community, and Recorder of Church Collections. Sue also delivered food to the home bound and volunteered in the school cafeteria at Brother Martin High School. She was highly active in the lives of her three sons, David, Glenn and Bobby, never missing sporting, music, academic and any other events her sons and later grandchildren participated in. She is preceded in death by her mother Estelle LeCompte and father Louis Elmer Jacobs, and sisters Jean (Rod) Bretz and Helen (Bill) Forbes. She is survived by her loving husband Allan and sons David (Kim), Glenn, and Robert (Rosalynn) and her grandchildren Charlotte, Erika, Shannon, Allan, and Heidi. Family and friends are invited to attend the Memorial Mass at 11:00 am on Saturday April 21st at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church, 400 Westchester Place, Slidell, LA. Visitation will be from 9:30 am to 11:00 am. Interment to follow in St Joseph Abbey Cemetery, St. Benedict, LA.
