Barbara Gerdes Sheppard

Barbara Gerdes Sheppard entered the embrace of our Lord to eternal peace on April 11, 2022, with family and friends by her side. Mrs. Sheppard was born in New Orleans and lived in Metairie and Old Jefferson her whole life. Barbara graduated from the Sacred Heart High School in 1955 and worked at CV Harold Company in NOLA. Mrs. Sheppard married and started a family with Frank C. Sheppard, Jr. in the early 60’s. Barbara was active in CCD at St. Agnes Church and helped in Sunday school when her children were young. She then started and ran a successful advertising specialties business called Lifetyme Signs throughout the 80’s and 90’s. Barbara is preceded in death by her husband of 54 years, Frank C. Sheppard, Jr.; her parents, Edward W. and Elsie R. Gerdes; her brother, Wayne Gerdes; and her son, Gerard E. She is survived by daughter, Tiffany A. and sons, Frank C. III and Scott T., and also by grandchildren, Christian T., Anja M. and Nadia V. The family will celebrate her life of sweet disposition, caring for family, contagious optimism and laissez-faire attitude on Monday April 18th. Family will receive guests starting at 10:30 am to be followed by a Catholic funeral service at 12:15 pm in the J. Garic Schoen Chapel of Jacob Schoen and Son Funeral Home, 3827 Canal St., New Orleans, LA 70119. Following the chapel service, there will be a repast held in the Iberville Room of the funeral home.
