Barbara M. Julian

Barbara Maria Bachus Julian, age 80, peacefully departed this earthly realm on December 18th, 2020 at her home. A lifelong resident of the New Orleans area, Barbara enjoyed gardening, reading, travel, casinos, going out to eat, and hosting parties at her home. She loved animals of all kinds but most of all cherished spending time with her friends and family. Barbara, a life-long Lutheran, was baptized at First English, then worshiped as a member of Redeemer, Our Savior, Prince of Peace, where she taught Sunday school, and finally, Mt. Olive Lutheran Church. Barbara was a hairdresser in New Orleans for more than 50 years, owning Al Julian’s Beauty Salon for most of that time. She is preceded in death by her parents, Thomas William Bachus and Gladys Augusta Koob Bachus, her sister Gail Ann Bachus Healy, her sons Thomas Paul Julian and David Bachus Julian, her son-in-law Ronald Gilbert Brown, her husband Long Allen Julian, and her very close friend Henry Huff. She is survived by her children Michele Julian Brown and Allen Joseph Julian (Tiffany Karr), her godson Viggo Cosentino, numerous nephews and nieces, and many dear friends. Barbara was like a mother to many and a friend to all. She opened her home to anyone who knocked and was quick to invite folks to stay for dinner and a visit. She is dearly missed.
Graveside funeral services will be held on Monday, December 28, 2020 at Greenwood Cemetery at 2:00 PM at Barbara’s family plot located on Live Oak between Aloe and Orange within Greenwood Cemetery, 120 City Park Ave, New Orleans, LA 70119.
