Anthony Michel Centanni, Jr., passed away peacefully Wednesday, May 30, 2018 with his wife of 41 years, Charlene Ballard Centanni, by his side. He was 73.
Born in New Orleans in 1945, Centanni worked as an accountant in Thibodaux, La, where he served in the administration of Mayor John H. Robicheaux as well as on the Thibodaux City Council. He was a Second Degree Knight of Columbus and a parishioner of St. Joseph Co-Cathedral. He is a 1963 graduate of St. Stanislaus Catholic School in Bay St. Louis, MS, and 1972 graduate of the University of Southwestern Louisiana.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by his sister Ethel Centanni Gregory of Lafayette and his four children and eleven grandchildren – Kama Centanni Pollick and Richard Ray Pollick, Jr. and their children Francis Michael Hosti, II, Nicholas Anthony Hosti, Richard Ray Pollick, III and Chase Matthew Pollick; Justin Anthony Centanni and Marie DesOrmeaux Centanni and their children Lucy Descant Centanni, Serafina Anne Centanni and Anthony Michel Centanni, III; Eric Warren Centanni and Dawn Hebert and their children Kaiden David Hobart and Gemma Faye Centanni; Sera Centanni SoRelle and Daniel Dale SoRelle, Sr. and their children Eleanor Marjorie SoRelle, Daniel Dale SoRelle, Jr. and Anne Elizabeth SoRelle.
He is preceded in death by his parents Anthony Michel Centanni, Sr. and Wilhelmina Ethel Junker of New Orleans.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Friday, June 1, 2018 at 12: 00 pm at St. Dominic Catholic Church in New Orleans. Visitation will be from 10:30 am until noon. Interment will be in Greenwood Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations in his honor are preferred to the Louisiana Organ Procurement Agency at www.lopa.org.
